Diagnoses, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on numerical
control, computerized numerical control, precision, and conventional
machine tools, and other production equipment used in the development,
manufacture, and testing of products. Areas of specialization may
include: electrical, mechanical, vacuum, hydraulic, refrigeration, NC
repair, and machine tool rebuilding, and electrical production
equipment. Diagnoses and performs major repairs to production
equipment. Evaluates machine tool condition and repairs for
repeatability and reliability. Assists in making evaluations and
recommendations for improvements on equipment based on maintenance
history. Operates production equipment for troubleshooting purposes.
Trains and assists lower level mechanics. Skills typically acquired
through 5 years of machine tool repair experience.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Requires ability to use hand tools. Forklift
experience is preferred. Must have good organizational and communication
skills and be able to work in a team environment. Must have the ability
to work from written and/or verbal communications. Position requires a
good understanding of basic shop math and the ability to read,
understand and work from blueprints. Requires the ability to perform
duties that require prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting,
reaching, working on irregular surfaces and frequent lifting of objects
weighing 25-100 lbs. Must be able to perform assigned tasks in a
production shop environment: i.e., extreme temperatures, loud noises,
and exposure to chemicals, heavy equipment, and other hazards associated
with a manufacturing shop environment. Some computer experience (e-mail,
SAP, etc.) beneficial. Position requires an individual with a positive
attitude and the willingness to be versatile in his duties. This position
may require shift work and 24 hour call. Skills required may include:
mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, vacuum, machine tool repair,
plumbing, welding and NC repairs.
